My happiest professional role of them all. Directing expertise includes: small-scale and mid-scale touring productions; work made for rural touring and community settings, for found spaces and unconventional sites for performance; large scale immersive events.
I have lots of experience directing actors-in-training at drama schools and universities. Read more about my approach to working with actors in training here.

Generating, testing and experimenting with ideas; helping to devise and structure work; facilitating work-in-progress sharings with test audiences and industry professionals; asking and soliciting the right questions to help advance work to the next stage of its journey.

A newer area of work for me, as lead artist and as a (now much more) knowledgable collaborator, which builds on Sounds Unfamiliar, my 2024 period of Developing Your Creative Practice research.

I’ve co-created many projects that position participants firmly at their heart. Co-designing projects that help tell participants’ stories and explore their place in the world is an increasingly central element of my work.
I’m particularly interested in encouraging intergenerational participants and audiences to have conversations with one another, discovering common ground and challenging their preconceptions.

Running workshops is one of my favourite things to do and I’ve been lucky enough to lead sessions for professional artists and also for artists-in-training at drama schools and universities across the country.
I offer a range of existing workshops, longer residencies, modules and programmes, and can also create bespoke workshops to explore particular techniques, approaches and practitioners.

I have extensive experience of working and teaching within drama school and university environments. I’ve had the opportunity to teach actors, devisers, writers, directors and stage managers, referencing a broad spectrum of practitioners and approaches.
I’ve also developed course and module content to ensure that what students are being taught is relevant and reflective of the industry they are preparing to enter.

I have lots of experience directing actors-in-training who are working on full or workshop productions, striking the delicate balance between a safe and supportive teaching space which empowers the students to develop new skills, and a rigorous professional experience with just the right amount of stretch and challenge to prepare them for entering the industry.

My wealth of experience includes: venue programming for live events across theatre, dance, comedy and family work; festival curation and programming; showcase and scratch night curation; exhibition curation; developing Learning and Participation strands to complement festival programmes; developing strategic projects and interventions.
